Greaves: Hybrid SNAP! Connectors

The revolutionary SNAP! Connector is a hybrid mechanical/compression type that combines the convenience of a mechanical set-screw with the reliability of a compression connector.  You install SNAP! connectors with a common open-end or adjustable wrench.  The SNAP! nut breaks off at the pre-set torque, leaving a heavy sleeve compressing the body onto the cable.  Available in 1-hole lugs, 2-hole NEMA lugs, and in-line splices, SNAP! Connectors are UL listed and made in the USA.  They are also available kitted as SNAP+ with cold-shrink insulation tubing.

This innovation solves the problems of working in tight spaces, and avoids the hassles of having a hydraulic tool and die available.  After stripping and inserting the wire, tighten the special breakaway nut, which breaks off when the proper pre-calibrated torque is applied.  This leaves a heavy-wall sleeve, which compresses and grips the connector body onto the wire.

As a contractor, you encounter problems when installing conventional compression connectors.  As an installer, you need to work in a tight, awkward space such as inside a control panel or in the confines below deck in a boat.  With a set-screw lug, it can be virtually impossible to access the set-screw, or gauge the proper torque.  With a conventional compression lug, it can be virtually impossible to maneuver a hydraulic tool into place.  With a hydraulic compression tool, you need to schedule or rent the correct tool and die-set at the right time, or deal with repair of a leaking tool.

In situations where space is limited, and where compression tools are not available, SNAP! is the answer.  View SNAP! at www.greaves-usa.com.
