Trade Service Goes Green

SAN DIEGO, CA – October 18, 2008 – Trade Service announced that its electrical database, consisting of 2.7 million items, across 631 manufacturers, is now compliant with the EPA’s Energy Star® program.  Following a thorough review and mapping of its database, Trade Service reported that every item in its electrical database meeting the guidelines of this environmentally-targeted program now carries the Energy Star label.

“The EPA estimates that the Energy Star program saved about $14 billion in energy costs in 2006 alone,” states Tod Moore, Trade Service’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing.  “We are pleased to broaden the visibility of this globally-recognized energy-saving program by highlighting all Energy Star items within our product and pricing database. We reach over 7,400 electrical distributor locations across the U.S., as well as over 20,000 contractor desktops.”

Adding the Energy Star label to the Trade Service database will help the industry save money, conserve energy, and protect the environment.  Trade Service subscribers will now be able to easily identify those compact fluorescents, ceiling fans, decorative fixtures, or other items that may be specified for projects calling for Energy Star-compliant material.

Thousands of items in the Trade Service database are now tagged with the Energy Star label and this special designation will continue to be assigned, where appropriate, to new items as they are introduced to the database.
