SHELTON,
CT - June 1, 2001 - Eclipse, Inc., a
provider of enterprise software for
end-to-end supply chain management in
the distribution industry, announced
today that it has established a reseller
agreement with i2 Technologies, Inc.
the leading provider of supply chain
and marketplace solutions. This Reseller
Business Alliance was formed shortly
after i2's recent acquisition of Trade
Service Corporation, the leading source
of information management tools for
the construction industry.
Under the terms of the
agreement, Eclipse will employ a direct
sales force to resell eDataFlex™, Trade
Service's searchable content delivery
and e-commerce enabling solution, to
their nationwide distributor client
base. Through the sale of eDataFlex,
Eclipse will deliver to their customers
high quality, attributed content for
their storefronts and back office systems.
eDataFlex's descriptive
attributed content, stored within Eclipse's
Product Data Warehouse (PDW), is designed
to allow distributors to streamline
product file management as well as expand
their e-commerce opportunities by enabling
buyers to locate products online quickly
and easily. Utilizing leading-edge data
transfer technology, Eclipse has automated
the exchange of eDataFlex's detailed
product and pricing information from
the Internet directly into the distributors'
business system. Because of the integration
of eDataFlex to their business system
and storefront applications, it was
a natural evolution that Eclipse resell
the product to their user base.
"We are excited
to partner with i2 as a Reseller Business
Partner, and to help drive the distribution
industry into the new global e-commerce
marketplace," said Michael Honig,
Eclipse's Vice President of Business
Development. "We have already integrated
eDataFlex into the PDW module and have
committed substantial sales and technical
resources to ensure the success of this
initiative."
eDataFlex also facilitates business
system updating with current and accurate
product and price information needed
for inventory control, invoicing and
other day-to-day applications. It includes
all of the relational data files required
to support a fully functional back office
system, including item, pricing, packaging,
manufacturer and commodity code tables.
"The goal of the
i2 and Eclipse alliance is to accelerate
e-commerce transactions for distributors
nationwide" said Tod Moore, i2
Director of Supplier Services. "This
is only the first step in a long-term
partnership where i2 and Eclipse can
transform the B2B marketplace with rich,
industry standard content."
